Dr Geordan Hammond
Senior Research Fellow in Church History and Wesley Studies
Geordan Hammond is Associate Professor in Methodist and Wesleyan Studies at Candler School of Theology, Emory University (Atlanta, Georgia) and a Senior Research Fellow at NTC. From 2009 to 2024 he served on the faculty of NTC as Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer, in Church History and Wesley Studies. Additionally, he was Administrator and Research Fellow (2006-10) and Director of the Manchester Wesley Research Centre (2010-24).
He is author of John Wesley in America: Restoring Primitive Christianity and co-editor of Holiness and Pentecostal Movements: Intertwined Pasts, Presents, and Futures, George Whitefield: Life, Context, and Legacy, Religion, Gender, and Industry: Exploring Church and Methodism in a Local Setting, the book series Studies in the Holiness and Pentecostal Movements and the journal Wesley and Methodist Studies.
I supervise PhD students in the areas of church history and historical theology, including Methodist, Wesleyan, Evangelical, Holiness, and Pentecostal studies. Inquiries from students who want to study or research in these areas are welcome. Currently, I’m supervising several PhD students, and I have supervised over ten PhD students to completion.
