Dr Thomas Noble
Senior Lecturer in Biblical Studies and Languages
I was appointed to the NTC Faculty as Academic Dean in 1976 and taught full-time until 1996 when I became Professor of Theology at Nazarene Theological Seminary. My PhD research at Edinburgh was in Patristics with a thesis entitled “The Deity of the Holy Spirit in Gregory of Nazianzus.” I now supervise PhD students at NTC in the broad area of Christian Theology with recently successful PhD theses on the topics of J.I. Packer, Leslie Newbigin and Wolfhart Pannenberg.
I have published in a number of journals, produced two books on aspects of 20th century church history, edited one on Darwin and Theology, and am presently part of the editorial team revising the New Dictionary of Theology. I was Secretary of the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical and Theological Research for five years, and now serve as chairman of the Christian Doctrine study group. I am on the board of the Manchester Wesley Research Centre, and am currently President of the Wesleyan Theological Society. My wife and I have four daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren.
