NTC Alumnus Dr. Gift Mtukwa Appointed Dean at ANU School of Religion and Christian Ministry

Nazarene Theological College (NTC) is pleased to celebrate the achievement of Dr. Gift Mtukwa, who has been appointed Dean of the School of Religion and Christian Ministry at Africa Nazarene University (ANU). Dr  Mtukwa, who earned his PhD in Biblical Studies from NTC, brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to Christian higher education to this significant role.

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and currently living and working in Nairobi, Kenya, Gift is an ordained minister with the Church of the Nazarene and has tuaght in the Religion Department of ANU since 2007.

Dr. Mtukwa’s educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies from Nazarene Theological College (2015-2020), where his thesis was titled “An African Communal Reading of Paul’s Work Exhortations in the Thessalonian Correspondence” – published in 2021 by Langham Press as ‘Work and Community in the Thessalonian Correspondence.’  He also holds a Master of Arts in Theology from NTC (2012-2014), graduating with Distinction, and a Master of Arts in Religion and a Bachelor of Theology from Africa Nazarene University. His research interests include contextual readings of Scriptures, African Biblical Hermeneutics, Thessalonians Correspondence, and the intersection of Work and Community.

This appointment is a testament to Dr. Mtukwa’s hard work, dedication, and ability. His significant contibution to New Testament Studies from an African perspective offers an important perspective for the global church.  NTC congratulates Dr. Mtukwa on this well-deserved appointment and wishes him every success in his new role.
