Revd Dr Julie Lunn, our Subject Area Lead and Lecturer in Practical and Social Theology, is leading an online prayer retreat for Canadian Nazarene Pastors this week.
The retreat explores the theme ‘The Art of Holiness in Icon, Image and Hymn’. The group will be using visual images, including icons from the Orthodox Christian tradition and Charles Wesley’s poetic texts, to explore themes of holiness.
There retreat will run across three days – 18th – 20th January 2022 – and will consistent of five separate sessions:
- ‘Open Lord my inward ear’ – Introduction to the theme.
- ‘Till the height and depth we know/All the depth of humble love’ – Humility before God.
- ‘That I thy nature might partake’ – Participating in God.
- ‘Thy image in my soul to see’ – Reflecting the image of God.
- ‘He bids us each to each restored/Together seek his face’ – A holy community.
At NTC, Revd Dr Lunn teaches in the areas of Practical Theology, Pastoral Theology, and Christian Spirituality, with a particular interest in Wesley Studies. Her PhD and subsequent book were in the area of the theology and spirituality of Charles Wesley’s poetic texts. She is also an ordained Methodist minister.
