I come from a mixed heritage English/Turkish background and was born (and raised) in South Manchester. Since I was a child, NTC seems to always have been in my awareness as I used to play locally with my friends!
I joined the faculty of NTC in 2025 as a senior lecturer and Counselling pathway lead; in some ways, it feels like a homecoming.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead this exciting, innovative and important counselling training programme at NTC.
I am interested in biographical and autoethnographic research methods. I am also currently a PhD candidate at the University of Warwick where I am researching the experience of students in HE who come from dual heritage and mixed race or cultural backgrounds. I also have an interest in music as well as spirituality and psychotherapy and is published in these areas. I am currently deputy chair of the BACP Spirituality Division and have a particular interest in the intersections of counselling and psychotherapy with belief, spirituality and faith.
