Pauline McKendrick

Pauline McKendrick

Vice Principal (Operations)

I earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Studies from Edinburgh and completed a one year course at London School of Theology, majoring in overseas mission. I moved to Manchester to work for Covenanters (a Christian youth organisation), fulfilling a variety of administrative roles. My heart, however, was in Zambia, and I spent 8 happy years there. The first 3 years based in Kabwe, working for Kabwe Chapel doing youth work, training youth leaders, prison visitation, marking Bible courses for those who were in prison, and running a Christian bookshop. The last 5 years were teaching in a Boarding school in the wonderful Zambian bush, where I was also Head of Sixth Form and Houseparent for the Sixth Form girls. The first 2 years we had no electricity, so it was truly chalk and talk and trying to find imaginative ways to teach Economics and Business Studies without digital resources!

Coming back to the UK in 2005, I started working for an awarding body as Corporate Services Manager and then joined NTC as Operations Director in September 2018, and was appointed Vice Principal (Operations) in 2025. All these different experiences have prepared me for this role and I marvel at how God leads and prepares us in ways we don’t always understand or see how they will come together in the future. Outside of NTC, a new venture into owning an allotment with friends is a great way to unwind and a healthier way to eat!

Peter Rae

Director of Alumni and Development

I’ve served in the role of Academic Dean and VP Academic at NTC for the past fifteen years, and have taught in such areas as Leadership, Faith and Media, and Theological Education. I hold a BA and MA in English Literature, a PGCE, and an MEd and PhD in Theological Education. My PhD dissertation examined issues of academic accreditation and validation, and their impact on mission and identity in the Christian College. I’m particularly interested in examining how faith-based colleges engage with public higher education, and welcome doctoral students wanting to work in related areas. After my retirement from the Vice-Principal (Quality Assurance) role at NTC, I now serve as Director of Alumni and Development on a part-time basis.

Robert Rae

Robert Rae

Registrar and Postgraduate Research Administrator

I am a British-Canadian-Irishman, currently living in Sweden with one wife, two dogs, and an array of vegetable patches. I studied for my BA and MA in Theology at NTC, looking at issues of Wesleyan political theology and ecological theology.

I’ve worked in a range of roles at NTC including Receptionist, Academic Assistant, Database Manager, and now Registrar and Postgraduate Research Administrator, as well as in high school learning support and chaplaincy.

I attend the Church of the Nazarene (online) and the Church of Sweden (incarnately) and enjoy both for their very, very different approaches.

In that time, I have married Tom, completed my BA (Hons) in Theology (Practical Theology) & my MA in theology, all at NTC. When I am not in the Academic office, I co-pastor a local Nazarene Church. Most weekends I find myself at a local national trust site or spending time with family & friends.

Cameron Preece

Cameron Preece

Admissions & Recruitment Coordinator

I was born in Manchester and raised in the seaside town of Dunoon in the west of Scotland. I came to faith at 14 through a Christian youth organisation called eXp and began attending a local Baptist church. At 18, after visiting NTC Manchester, I began a BA in Theology, serving as Student Body Secretary in my first two years. In 2022, I completed an MA in Theology, made possible by God’s provision, while working part-time as an IT consultant.

I now serve NTC as the Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator, supporting prospective students through the application process, and aiming to be both excellent and kind in all I do. I assist the Marketing team with website managmeent, creative digital media, and ideas.

I serve on the worship team at Brooklands Church of the Nazarene and offer IT support and proofreading in my spare time. I enjoy playing piano and drums, writing poetry, taking photos with my DSLR, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends.

I am currently the Online Programme Development Lead at NTC. Before joining NTC, I taught as an adjunct lecturer on the Social Justice pathway here at NTC. I’ve consulted with Oxfam, Tearfund, Innovista, and the Church of the Nazarene for their work in Afghanistan, Palestine, and Liberia amongst others.

Kennis Lam

Human Resource Assistant and Receptionist

I am Kennis, your HR assistant and Receptionist. Originally from Hong Kong, I moved to Manchester in 2021. Before joining NTC, my career was quite different – I worked as a fashion Merchandiser, a fast-paced and stressful role that involved constant travel and taught me how to be truly independent.
The transition to the UK has had its challenges, from navigating a new language and culture to braving the famous Northern weather! However, the amazing friends I’ve met at NTC have made it all worthwhile. I am a huge fan of exploring new places, whether it’s a flight abroad or hunting for the city’s best hidden-gem restaurants. Stop by the desk for a chat – I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Esther Newton

Executive Assistant

Upon leaving school I started working for a Christian Publisher – Langham Publishing (a great place for students to find resources!) – and fell in love with both editing and theology.

After five years I decided to study for myself and came to NTC as a BA student and got to dive into even more of my questions! Now I work as the Executive Assistant at NTC, alongside my role as an editor.

When not working I can be found with a book and a cup of tea!

Simona Stanfield

Simona Stanfield

Finance Manager

I am originally from Bucharest, Romania but moved to the UK in 2010. I worked in different housekeeping jobs before NTC hired me. I also worked as a housekeeper for NTC as well as receptionist and operations assistant. Not long after that, my predecessor retired and NTC offered me the opportunity to grow in my role and I joined working in the finance office. I am now a qualified bookkeeper and looking forward to finishing my studies.

In my spare time, I love walking in nature, traveling to new places and spending quality time with my family.

NTC holds a special place in my heart and I love that I can work in such a lovely environment surrounded by people who care and believe in the college’s mission in mentoring and training students to benefit the wider community church.

Dana Gheorghe

Finance Officer

My journey began with a solid foundation in commerce, having earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and a Masters in Marketing and Business Communication from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, Romania.

In 2019 I made a significant life change by moving to Manchester with my family, a decision driven by the desire for new opportunities and growth. This move has not only been transformative professionally but also personally, as it has allowed me to indulge in my passions for reading, traveling, and exploring nature.

My work experience spans more than a decade, during which I have held various roles in the fashion and construction industries before solidifying my position in the financial sector.

In pursuit of specialized knowledge in accounting, I embarked on AAT courses, successfully obtaining the AAT Level 3 Diploma of Accounting and the Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2.

I joined NTC in 2021 as a Finance Assistant. After dedicating myself to further education and obtaining the AATQB in 2023, I progressed to the role of Finance Officer. This advancement reflects my commitment to professional growth and my passion for the financial field.

James Hunter

Chaplain

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Master of Arts in Biblical Studies with Nazarene Theological College. I am currently undertaking my PhD, specialising in Pentecostal Theology. I have been involved with youth work for over 20 years, this has been spread across London and Manchester. Much of this work has been invested in working with young people who were at risk. I now help direct an organisation called The Olive Hut, which is a mentoring service for Looked after children or previously looked after children.

I moved to Manchester in 2014 with my wife and two children to serve as associate pastors at Victory Outreach Manchester, we had already been serving in the London branch for 15 years. This is a ministry that has a specialisation in working within inner cities and with people from addiction backgrounds. I currently work at NTC, serving as the Chaplain, having previously worked as the Youth and Community course coordinator and placement manager for any students studying Practical Theology.

Both my wife and myself have a desire to support and help children that have been adopted (we have adopted two children ourselves) and this contributes to the ministry that we have with the Olive Hut. I love travelling (my favourite place is Jamaica) and I love sport, with a particular passion for football and American football.

Debbie Kane

Operations Coordinator and Campus Warden

I fell in love with Christ’s church at a very young age and it’s a love that continues to this day. It was a place of safety I found in the heart of the notorious East End of Glasgow. I long to help others find that same safety in Jesus’ church, particularly children. I have a God-given passion for people and enjoy relaxing by taking in an evening’s worth of soaps!

Rachel Campbell

Learning Enhancement Coordinator

With a background in teaching, I have worked in many different roles in nursery, primary and high schools. This has fostered my personal and professional passion for life-long learning, a passion that motivated me to undertake an MA in Practical and Pastoral Theology at NTC a few years ago before working as a Learning Enhancement Assistant and Academic Administrator here at NTC.

It is a joy to combine these previous experiences in my role in Learning Enhancement, encouraging and supporting others in their own learning journeys. I also value this further opportunity to be part of the soul-enriching NTC community.

Outside of college, I have a wonderful husband and three amazing young adult children. I am an active member of my local church and I undertake voluntary charity work. I love reading, writing, giving hospitality, walking, visiting historic sites and travelling.

Joe Boston

Academic Administrator and Learning Enhancement Assistant

After finishing school, I headed off to join various Christian charities in succession for three years. Although a few people questioned this decision considering I received neither money nor qualifications from that time, I can’t deny that it molded me and set me well on my next path – studying theology. Since being a teenager, investigating the Bible, religions, and mythology has fascinated me. That fascination led me, eventually, to apply to NTC to study in their undergraduate theology program.

That, however, wasn’t enough. I still had unresolved questions about God, theology, and the Bible and so decided to apply to their MA in Biblical Studies. To be honest, the course did help me further with these questions as I had flexibility in my research. Despite this, having now finished the MA, I’d still like to explore more! Before I get there though, I thought, it might be wise to work for a while, and where better to work than NTC – a lovely community that in my experience values its students and staff as people.

I previously worked as the Learning Enhancement Coordinator and Academic Administrator, but now work full-time as an Academic Administrator.

John Gibson

Maintenance Worker

Originally from Adelaide, I moved to Kent when I was 15. I studied in Leeds and in Manchester where I met my wife, Katherine. We have settled in the Heatons area and have three wonderful children.

Even though I studied music at college, I went on to work with my father-in-law doing a variety of building projects including plumbing, electrics, joinery, building, and decorating. I am now looking after the maintenance of the NTC campus. I became a Christian as a child and was baptised on Easter Sunday at Emmanuel Community Church, Didsbury, in 2018.

Stella Yuen

Campus Housekeeper

I moved to Manchester from Hong Kong in 2022. In Hong Kong, I worked as a special education teacher, taking care of children with special needs every day. After moving to the UK, my first experience with British culture was at NTC College, and now I’m very happy to be part of the NTC team as a Housekeeper. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new restaurants and discovering interesting places.
