Study the breadth of theology with world-class experts.

Why This Course?

Study biblical studies, practical theology, ethics and social justice alongside world-class experts, and learn to bring big theological thinking into real-life application. You’ll graduate equipped to bring faith into real, everyday places, whatever that looks like for you — ministry, the charity sector, the church, or simply a deeper love of theology. Study full-time or part-time, on campus or online.

Why NTC?

Study for a degree validated by the University of Manchester, recognised by employers, churches and institutions worldwide, while experiencing NTC’s own approach to formative theological education. You’ll learn alongside people from different traditions, putting faith into practice through worship, study and everyday community life. We equip you for 21st-century Christian life and ministry, applying theological learning in practice — and our graduates go on to thrive across every sphere of life, from community work and ethics to leadership and ministry.

About your programme

How your course works

Full-time study means five or six lectures a week, over eleven weeks of the semester, usually running Monday to Wednesday, between 9.15am and 5.20pm. There’s a reading week midway through too.

Most of our students also take two intensive modules a year — a week of focused study, covering a whole module in one go, running each January and June.

Each week, you’ll spend around eight hours in lectures and 32 hours in independent study, whether you’re joining us on campus or studying online. You’ll also find space for community: pause together at 11am each day, chapel, and pastoral care groups.

Studying part-time? Your commitment scales with you. At 0.5, for example, you’re looking at around 20 hours a week dedicated to your studies. You can also talk to our admissions team about 0.25 and 0.75 study options.

Most modules are assessed by an essay towards the end of the semester. Language modules include an exam instead.

(This structure is subject to change.)

Students will receive a minimum of 360 credits while on this course.

Our entry requirements are designed to accommodate a variety of educational backgrounds:

Traditional entry: we welcome applicants with 2 A-Levels, Highers, or their level 3 equivalent.

Non-Traditional Entry: We recognise the value of diverse experiences. If you don’t meet the traditional criteria, don’t worry; non-traditional entry paths are available. Contact us at admissions@nazarene.ac.uk for more information.

International students: applicants whose first language is not English need to demonstrate their English proficiency. Undergraduate students need a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or its equivalent, overall.

The BA (Hons) in Theology does not have placements. If you are interested in practical experience during your degree programme, you may be interested in Practical Theology or Theology and Counselling.

BA (Hons) in Theology (Practical Theology) Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Theology (Counselling)

Full-time and part-time routes are both available. Full-time study takes three years, and part-time up to six, for 0.5. 0.25 and 0.75 options are also available.

Study wherever you are in the world. We’ve built dedicated technology to bring you live into our classrooms, so you can join the programme 100% online, in real time, from anywhere.

Close to forty nationalities are represented across our student body. We welcome students from outside the UK, whether you’re joining us for a full course or a Study Abroad period, and the variety of cultures in our community enriches all of our lives.

Online Students

If you don’t quite meet the entry requirements for your chosen course, we’d suggest applying for our Certificate in Theology instead. It’s a great place to start your journey with us, and once you’ve completed it, you may be eligible to transfer onto the BA — as long as your grades reach the required level.

Our academic office is always happy to talk this through with you, so do get in touch if you’d like to explore this route further.
