I joined the College in March 2026 and look after the garden 1 day a week. When I’m not at Nazarene, I’m gardening for private clients and working part-time at a local garden centre.
I first came to Manchester to study Zoology at the university, followed by a master’s in Art Gallery and Museum Studies. After graduating, I went back to my native South London, where I got a job in clinical governance at Guy’s and St Thomas’. After a few years enjoying London life, getting married and travelling for a year, my husband and I made the big decision to move up to Manchester. I continued to work in the NHS, this time in clinical research, and alongside this I studied for my RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture. In 2023 I left my job in the NHS to work fully in horticulture, and I’m so glad I did!
I love growing things and encouraging wildlife into the spaces in the garden, and Nazarene is no exception! Gardening is my way of connecting with the natural world; it gives me opportunities to observe and interact with the non-human lives that share our outdoor spaces. Nazarene is such a beautiful space to work in, a highlight in my week! My hope is that I can make it an enjoyable place for staff, students and visitors to use, as well as a welcoming habitat for nature.
